Wahoo Does Something With Speedplay
I’ve never tried Speedplay pedals, but I know quite few people who ride, and swear by, them. They’re new, totally redesigned, and Wahoo is promising much greater reliably and durability compared to the original designs. That’s all good, but there’s also an integrated power pedal coming coming “Summer 2021”. This is a nice video overview, but for those who prefer to read their news DCR also has the skinny. UPDATE: DCR has…
Stop Squeaky Pedals
Squeaky pedals are super annoying; both to you, and to everyone you’re riding with. While squeaky pedals isn’t a problem isolated to SPD pedals, they do seem to suffer from it a bit more than other setups, probably because of the more durable metal-on-metal interface.…
From my cold, dead, feet
I am astounded by the Dylan’s findings in the video below, but he does cover some of the nuance that keeps me on clipless pedals. There is one thing that he didn’t mention though – connectedness to the bike. There’s value, at least to me, in feeling connected to the bike. I know my foot isn’t going to slip off when I press down on the opposite side when screaming through a…
I want whatever SRM is smoking
Not really, it wouldn’t be good for my asthma. But, whatever they are hitting, it must be choice, because $1199 for dual-sided power might have been a reasonable price back when they started working on these pedals, but with everyone slashing prices the last few months. It’s not any more. Some of course would argue that SRM is “first to market” with the X-Power, and that is true if we narrowly define…
Servicing the XPEDO R-FORCE 6 Titanium Road Pedal
Every pedal needs to be serviced eventually. The XPEDO R-FORCE 6 is probably a bit higher on the frequency scale though because of its small size and minimal design. There’s really only one tricky bit, and it took me a little while to figure it out.…
There’s no getting around the fact that the $269 (SRP) XPEDO M-FORCE 8 titanium dual-sided SPD pedal is expensive. But, for the weight weenie who likes to walk in their cycling shoes from time-to-time and isn’t quite ready to make the move to a single sided pedal the M-FORCE 8 is a fantastic option. If only the cleats were better (but you can just use the Shimano SH-51) … Thanks to XPEDO…
XPEDO R-FORCE 6 – Light weight SPD pedal
I’ve heard that acceptance is the first step to acknowledging that you have a problem. But what if you accept something, but do not really see it as a problem? Perhaps that is the point. That really is not acceptance. Oh well. Here goes. My name is Andrew, and I am a weight weenie. Lets leave the discussion around whether that is something requiring help till later, and focus instead on the…
