I like to ride in the winter, but I hate having cold hands. So I picked up this pair of Pearl Izumi AmFIB lobster gloves hoping that they would be exactly what I was looking for from a cold weather riding glove.
Getting old sucks, might as well have a nice bike
Thanks for the review Andrew.. I’ve been looking for a good pair of lobster gloves because I suffer badly from frozen finger when it dips below 40 degrees F. Could you let us know to which gloves you refer towards the end of your review? Cheers
Thank you. I was referring to the Pearl Izumi Men’s P.R.O. AmFIB Super Glove, which is a pretty solid glove, but it doesn’t completely solve the frozen finger problem.
I’ve been playing with a set of SealSkinz heated gloves lately and so far they’ve been really good. They don’t completely solve the problem when it dips into the 20s, but it’s enough to take the edge off and make it so I don’t lose feeling in my thumbs :).
Thank you for the prompt reply. Interesting that the P.R.O. are better. I thought the ones you reviewed were the updated versions. If I can’t find the P.R.O. versions, I may consider the Giro 100 Proof lobsters instead.
I’m not sure they sell the P.R.O. version anymore. Their performance was why I picked up these gloves, I figured they would be just as good, but solve the cold index/middle finger problem.
The Giros look pretty solid. Let me know how you get on with them.
