I’ve been meaning to do a pro/con breakdown on Shimano Di2 for ages. Finally found the downtime to get it done :).…
The recently announced Fitbit Sense includes all the sensors, and when I say all, I literally mean all: ECG, EDA, GPS, HR, SpO2, HRV, accelerometer, etc. It also includes all the good stuff you see on other Fitbit wearables, like advanced sleep tracking, contactless payment, step counting, etc. but I really have to wonder if Fitbit will solve the transparency/data issues that got me off its platform. My guess is no, and…
Orange Seal VersaValve 80mm Tubeless Valve Stems
It’s easy to think about tubeless valves as all being the same, but that’s not the case. These Orange Seal VersaValve 80mm Tubeless Valve Stems are a fantastic option for a few reasons; making them stand out from competitive options. …
You might be missing the point, Garmin…
It’s been a rough summer; with three crashes, two of which have taken me off the bike for unwelcome lengths of time… I don’t like seeing that “detraining” notice any less than anyone else, but honestly, I also appreciate the honesty. And while it totally sucks seeing it there, taunting me, not seeing it is worse. I didn’t go all-in to have my devices go dark, hiding something that is clearly happening.…
Garmin fēnix 6 goes to 11, err… 11.10
Take couple slow days and BOOM, there’s another update to the Garmin fēnix 6. Love it! I’ve actually been running the RC with zero issues for about a week, so I think it’s totally safe to plop this guy on the watch and enjoy the new features. The Unfortunately, there’s no direct download link on the forums, so you’ll have to use Garmin Express if you want to force it officially. But…
This seems like a colossally bad idea
Face it! Every bike is imperfect. Yep, got it. No disagreement here, but there’s definitely some wiggle room in every spec for imperfection. Want to say the word is “tolerance”. Shaving a bike, especially on a carbon bike, is risky AF. If it’s wildly out of spec, and the OEM won’t warranty it, what do you have to lose? But, for everyone else, this will almost certainly invalidate your warranty if you…
The discussion around socks in this video from Dylan Johnson is especially brilliant, in a video which might strike to close to home for some. I love it! And not just because I’m always guilty on at least one sock infringement, and sometimes both at the same time (calf compression sleeves FTW) ;).…
Got a Wahoo ELEMNT/ROAM/BOLT + Di2? This update’s for you.
If you have any sort of Wahoo ELEMNT cycling computer and Shimano Di2, best get your update on. With that out of the way, kind of need to ask how this sort of thing gets through testing in the first place. My guess: Wahoo doesn’t have the best unit testing story. Fortunately, updates are super easy on the ELEMNT family, so go ahead and get it done.…
Hammerhead Karoo 2 is THE BEST Strava KOM Hunter’s Computer
Being completely honest, I yawned (metaphorically of course) my way through most of DCR’s Hammerhead Karoo 2 hands-on. The bike computer looks fine, does stuff, even does it well, navigation for example, but nothing that really addressed the biggest question around why one might want to buy one of these cycling computers over industry leader Garmin, or hot-on-their-heels Wahoo (I know there are others, but again being completely honest, they’re also-rans). Until…
Specialized does its CL thing to the Roval Alpinist
It won’t come as a surprise to anyone that a “CL” version of the Roval Alpinist was in the works. It Specialized’s MO to start with the CLX, and then drop the “X” for a significantly more budget friendly version. In this case you’re really not giving up that much either. The rim is same 21mm internal/ 26.3mm external / 33mm deep as the top end Alpinist, just moving to the bulletproof…
