There’s not a lot new with the just announced Garmin fēnix 7 Pro and epix Pro smart (ish) fitness watches. Garmin put their newest optical heart rate (OHR) sensor in both (which might enable ECG readings at some point), they put the flashlight that was in the fēnix 7 X in all of them, and… that’s about it. So if you already have a fēnix 7 or epix, there’s not a lot of reason to pony up for either. Older watch owners might. They won’t be getting the software enhancements (which TBH, are kind of meh IMO) that were launched with the “Pro” models. Combined with the fancy OHR, and all the other cool fitness/wellness tracking features that have trickled out over the last few years, make that a more compelling sell.
Personally, and I know this is stupid, really like the subtle enhancements they made to the body of the fēnix 7, and the new white/orange band shown above. None of this is compelling enough for me to buy a Pro, but I will probably be shopping for that band at some point :D.
