I generally try to stay away from crowdfunding. My personal experience hasn’t been that awesome there. But, I also have to admit that this crowdfunding effort from Esker (a startup MTB brand that also owns Terren Tires) has me intrigued.
Part of that is because the thing on offer here isn’t a sleek product, that is probably vapor, but a slice of the company itself. And while I have minimal interest in riding MTB, I suspect that boutique builder has more potential for growth in the MTB space than on the road. All that said, even though it’s good times for the bike industry now, busts always follow booms, and there was already disruption on the horizon for bike OEMs pre-pandemic, so it could be really tough for all the players, small OEMs especially when the bike bubble blows up.
At Esker, we make mountain bikes you’ll enjoy throughout the entire ride, no matter where the trail takes you. Using Orion Dynamics, a patented, state-of-the-art suspension system, we design each and every bike to provide peak durability, performance, and versatility – all assembled in the Flathead Valley in Montana. As more and more people opt for the outdoors, Esker bikes are ready to ride wherever you choose to roll.
