Remember the whole Aeroad handlebar breaking problem that was supposed to be sorted in July? Looks like it’s actually getting resolved now, as we near the end of November. A friend of mine has one of their SLX bikes, and just received the email below. Oddly none of the DIY/LBS options are on the table, and he’ll have to package up the whole bike (yeah, wheels too?) and ship it to California for Canyon to replace the handlebar ends and seat post grommet.
Hi [Redacted],
Thank you so much for your patience. We are ready to begin the service process for your Aeroad SLX seat post and aerobars.
This process will involve sending your complete bike (frame, fork, aerobars, wheels – front and rear) back to our distribution center to have our master technicians complete the service.
See the attached FedEx return shipping label.
To ensure personal items are not damaged or lost, please remove accessories from your bike including the saddle, computer mount, pedals, lights, bags, bottle cages, pumps, special handlebar tape etc.
See the attached packaging PDF for steps on how to package your Aeroad. Failure to package the bike otherwise can result in damage during transit.
If you’d like to have a local bike shop package your bike for you, please let us know before sending it in and we will reimburse you for the packing (around $70-$80) after we complete the service at our distribution center.
Once we receive your bike back to our distribution center, the service process will be completed and we will reach out with the return shipping details.
After completion, we will ship the bike back to you and email you the FedEx tracking number. This is also the time we will complete the $1200.00 refund credit back to your original form of payment or, for orders close to 12 months from the purchase date, the refund will be mailed to you via a company check.
Questions to confirm:
• Do you need a bikeguard box? If yes, what is the delivery address?
• Once your bike is complete, what is the best delivery address? Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
All the best,
