I haven’t played with ANGi, but it seems like a solid concept with clunky execution. Which, apparently, has improved slightly this morning. DCR has the skinny. Wahoo and Specialized have announced a new integration that lets Wahoo users automatically start and stop the Specialized ANGi helmet live tracking and crash detection features, directly from their Wahoo ELEMNT/BOLT/ROAM computers. This integration (as you’ll see), seems more of a first step of how the…

LEOMO TYPE-S, a phone that thinks it’s a bike computer
Overall, the LEOMO TYPE-S looks like exactly the kind of device the the cycling computer market needs. I love that it’s a phone (nano SIM), which makes it’s heft so much easier to swallow (i.e. plop the SIM from my heavy mobile into this for a net weight saving), and the massive performance/capability jump that provides. There are so many neat use cases that the TYPE-S provides now, and has the potential…
Muc-Off No Puncture Hassle Tubeless Sealant
It’s really hard to pick a tubeless sealant for your road tires. There are so many options, and much of the guidance out there is aimed at the MTB crowd. With around 2000 miles on my tubeless setup, it was time to capture my thoughts on Muc-Off’s No Puncture Tubeless Sealant.…
Bryton Announces Rider 420 Cycling Computer
I love it when a company takes feedback, and simply makes a better product. It appears that Bryton has done exactly that with the just announced Rider 420 cycling computer. Compared to the Rider 410 there are a few welcome improvements. Including an optically bonded display (i.e. flush), modifiable contrast, ability to get to the settings in activity, BTLE power meter support, and turn-by-turn navigation. Even with this additional capability, the Rider…
Wahoo Adds Varia (ANT+ Radar) Support to ELEMNT Computers
When Wahoo said “by end of year” when asked about support for ANT+ Radar (Varia), I assumed that meant the firmware would drop on December 31st (or thereabouts). But, fortunately for Wahoo users who want the added safety and assurance that a radar device provides, they can actually use the feature today. No official firmware notes have been released, so it’s not clear what else was added (light control doesn’t appear to…
TIL – Aerodynamics
If you have any interest in aerodynamics, and not just in relation to cycling, this video by Hambini (PhD in aerodynamics) is fantastic stuff. Fair warning, some might find some of the content dry, or abrasive, but I thought it was great. Enjoy.…
iQsquare Pivots to Pedals
Measuring power between the pedal and the crank was a massive feature of the iQsquare power meter. Combining this with the flexibility to swap in whatever pedal you like, it offered a unique value proposition, irrespective of its incredibly low [relative] price. Unfortunately, it appears that physics has intervened, complicating things to the point where they have decided to make a pedal instead. One, Look Keo compatible, for road, and the world’s…
Wahoo ROAMs off message
First off, the Wahoo ELEMNT ROAM looks like a nice unit. A bit bigger than the BOLT. Color(ish) support. Better (kinda) navigation than the older ELEMNTs, but that price. An aspirational $379!?! Yes, Wahoo has a better UX than Garmin, during setup/config, but it does less. A lot less. Even than the $299 Edge 530, let alone the $399 Edge 830. See, the thing is, when I review products – price is…
Wahoo releases BETA for SRM power meter data issues
It looks like the most recent ELEMNT firmware update introduced an issue with SRM power meters. If you have one, and would like to try out a BETA firmware that should address the issue: We do apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused. We narrowed down the issue to the SRM power meter and have a fix for it in our beta group. Anyone who wants to opt into that release…
Garmin Announces Edge 530 & 830
The Edge 830 costs $100 more than the 530, but there isn’t much daylight between the two otherwise. Although, according to Garmin the 830 is smaller and lighter than the 530. Both are packed with features, and address two of my complaints with my 520 Plus: Wi-Fi frees you from the mobile for syncing and support for BTLE sensors. Today Garmin announced three new products, the Edge 530 (this review), the Edge 830…
